About the game
Where the run started
Area-Vegas published this slot on 16 September 2025, well over six months before the Unleashed expansion. The theme list runs wide: wolf and pack alongside bears, deer, eagles, moon, treasures and the colours green and red.
Those colour tags are not accidental. On link games coins often carry colour codes marking different value tiers, and here that is elevated to a theme.
Link Win at the core
The feature list names Link Win explicitly, alongside hold and win with respins. Coin symbols link together and pay as a group; the additive symbol and cash collector make that group grow in value.
Also present: sticky symbols, shifting reelsets, reel doubling, a standard and a random multiplier, an energy collection, fixed jackpots, a bonus game and a wild. Free spins are absent.
96.45% with high volatility
RTP is 96.45%, comfortably above the link slot average. Volatility is rated high, and that is the key difference from the later Unleashed version, which sits at medium-high.
The ceiling stays at 5,000x. High volatility with a modest maximum means the spread lives mostly in the middle: large differences between sessions, without a single enormous outcome being available.
Planning a session without stake data
Minimum and maximum stakes are not published by the studio, nor is the line count. The shifting reelsets also mean the grid layout itself can change during play.
At high volatility with a 5,000x ceiling, a long session at a low stake is the logical approach. There is no scenario where one spin redeems the evening, so stamina counts for more than timing.
Who it fits
Players wanting link mechanics with an above-average RTP, and who prefer the sharper tuning of the first version to its flatter successor.
Less suited to anyone chasing a big maximum or needing free spins for variety. Everything here runs through the same respin phase, over and over.
Against Area Link Wolf Unleashed
The sequel appears in this catalogue at 96.5% and the same 5,000x, but at medium-high volatility. On paper they are near-identical; in behaviour they are not.
This first version adds Link Win and an energy collection the sequel does not list, while Unleashed plays calmer. If you want movement, stay with the original.
Rules
Base Game
The provider does not publish the reel layout or number of lines. Wins are paid according to the paytable when qualifying combinations land.
The game can switch to an alternative reel set (Reelset Changing) as part of certain features.
Mechanics: symbols and multipliers
Wild substitutes for regular symbols to complete combinations. Bonus symbols are used to start features or grant access to a bonus mode.
Additive symbol increases values or counters within an active feature. Symbols collection (Energy) gathers energy symbols into a meter to activate or enhance features. Multiplier and Random multiplier apply win multipliers; the random variant can occur spontaneously during rounds.
Mechanics: respins, linking and jackpots
Hold and Win and Link Win lock specific symbols and link them together; Respins follow, during which new qualifying symbols may land. Sticky Symbols remain in place during these respins. Cash Collector collects cash values from designated symbols when a collector lands alongside them.
Reels doubling can enlarge reels by doubling them, adding extra positions on that reel. Fixed Jackpots are set prizes that can be awarded via a feature or bonus.
Bonus entry
A Bonus Game can start via Bonus symbols or through a feature such as Hold and Win or Link Win. The required number of symbols and exact trigger conditions are not published by the provider.
RTP, volatility and max win
The theoretical return to player (RTP) is 96.45%. This is a long-term average and not a guarantee for individual sessions. Volatility is HIGH, implying larger swings in results.
The maximum win is 5,000x the stake.
Verdict
- 96.45% RTP sits above the link genre average
- Link Win, shifting reelsets and an energy collection add variety to the respins
- High volatility makes it sharper than the later successor
- A 5,000x ceiling is low for a high-volatility game
- No free spins as a second bonus route
- Stake limits and win structure are unpublished
Area Link Wolf is the sharper half of the Area-Vegas pair. The 96.45% RTP is excellent for the genre, and Link Win combined with shifting reelsets and an energy collection gives the respin phase more substance than the sequel offers.
What grates is the ratio between high volatility and a 5,000x ceiling. You take on the risk of a demanding game without the large upside that normally accompanies it. For genre enthusiasts the RTP is the argument that survives.
